HELP ME MAKE MORE POINTS!!!! ahh, sry, I mean..


OK, so Im trying to gear up my folding unit's while I still have a few bucks, and here's
what Ive got now

Rig 1 (gaming)
680i LT + Q66 (Stock, cant OC an inch for some reason)
8800GTX (576/900/1460)
9600 GSO (596/575/1625)

Rig 2 (folding/net)
9600 GSO (Stock)

Where I'm at now
Q66 - 1800/2100 PPD
8800 GTX - 4100/4500 PPD
9600 GSO - 2500 PPD
---
9600 GSO 2200 PPD

PS3 ~900 PPD

What I'm Going to build (parts in stock or in the mail already)

750i SLI with Q66 (run SMP here)

What I want to know from yall
* What's a decent OC to shoot for with a Q66 on air? Its kinda warm here, so I wont be setting any records and my case is warm with the 2 cards already
* What Speeds should I have set for my cards while they fold? (8800GTX&96's)
* About where should my PPD be now and where should it be once I upgrade?
* Is there anyway to crank more points out of my Quad, it seems kinda weak
* Is there any problem against going 64 bit?

I'm sure I forgot something, and I know its alot, but Ive gotten hooked on folding again now that Ive joined a team with active people. Thanks for any help and sorry Im long winded

as for the overclock on the q6600 depending on what HSF your going to be using.. id say 3.3-3.5ghz is a good goal to shoot for..

as for the gfx cards to find their limit.. you could run furmark.. then as furmark is running increase your shader clock 5-10mhz at a time while watching furmark and do this til you start seeing artifacts.. then you have your max shader clock.. you dont need to mess with the gpu or memory.. increasing those will only get you about 100-150 PPD extra but its not worth the increase in temp..

overall id take a guess that you should be closer to 20k PPD with everything running..

did some searching.. id look to try and hit about 1500mhz on the shader if you can.. and if that works see how high you can go after that..

3.2-3.4GHz. Maybe 3.6GHz if you're very lucky or if you grab an older G0 (the newer ones are pretty crap).

As fast as you can set them to while keeping them stable. Shader clock is the most important for folding.

* About where should my PPD be now and where should it be once I upgrade?

Your GPUs look a bit slow, but everything seems pretty normal. You could get more out of your Q6600 by running Linux VMs and the LinSMP client though. As for where it should be afterward, it looks like you'll just be adding a single 9600GSO and a 3GHz P4, so I'd say you'd be at about 2500-3000PPD for the GPU and maybe 3-400PPD for the CPU.

Like I said above, the LinSMP client can greatly increase your output. With two VMs, each allocated to two of your cores, you could push upwards of 4000PPD.

Nope. No problem whatsoever. In fact, 64-bit is required to run the Linux SMP client if you decide to go that route.

The forum nuked my post, so I'll say it again. You don't have to use Linux as the host OS; only in the VMs. I personally run Vista x64 as the host OS and I have one Linux VM running on two of my cores through VMWare, so you'll be able to do something similar without any issues should you decide to.
