Just need a quick answer about a driver installation . . .

Ok, here's the deal. I am used to Nvidia where you need to do a custom installation in order to avoid installing bloat-ware and things that can cause you grief (like the HDMI/DVI audio driver breaking 4:4:4 via DVI>HDMI or various other parts rendering your OS motionless). I don't want this to devolve into Nvidia vs ATi/AMD as neither company is perfect and yadda yadda yadda. I will always choose the company that provides what I feel will be the best use of my money and this time it was ATi/AMD.


Anyway, my 6870 2 GB just came in and, when I went to install the driver it dawned on me that I hadn't even looked at what people typically do with their ATi/AMD driver installation. Does everyone usually just do the automatic install or does everyone go the custom route and untick the plethora of checkboxes I see?

I don't have 3D, have no use/need for audio over HDMI or DVI, and I'm running a TA-990FX motherboard. I'm guessing I don't need the following:

AMD App SDK Runtime
HDMI/DP Audio driver
AMD Drag and Drop Transcoding
AMD Media Foundation Decoders


I'm also guessing this is the equivalent of the Nvidia control panel:

AMD Vision Engine Control Center


Any help is appreciated when it comes to the installation process and that's all I'm really after. Thanks in advance . . .

That's pretty much the same things I un-check also. I would bet most users here also un-check the stuff they don't use also....

That's what I figured Tony. Couldn't really get anything solid via Google. Just wanted to get a quick synopsis of if there was anything one should absolutely not do when dealing with ATi/AMD drivers. Thanks for the reply.
