well i just got my fortron blue storm 500 watt psu, i alrdy have my card bought so i just had to wait for my psu. im a newb here. ok so i cleaned out my old drivers and installed the one's on the cd. now im tryin to find the newest ones, but am kinda lost in the site. can anyone point me to that? also how do i check my temp of my vcard, how do i check if my psu is alright as well? also wut do i use to see if i can unlock the shader vertex and the extra pipes. thanks alot and i appreciate ur help. also how do i kno if my agp slot is running at the correct ram? and if its set on 8x.? wut button allows u to restart on safe mode btw? cuz i didn't do a driver cleaner in safe mode. i might think about doin that. also wut hertz should i set my monitor on using the options that nvidia gives me? any settings i should turn on or turn off? plz do tell. thanks again. sorry im just a noob.

go to www.nvidia.com

then click download drivers then download drivers again...should bring you to a 3 part menu

then click the part you need (graphic driver,geforce,windowsxp is how it goes i think)

then click Go! below the 1st menu then it should show you the link. Download from the primary download site...you'll scroll down to the bottom of some user agreement and click I Agree...then it installs

As for temps and shit, right click ur desktop, click properties then click the settings tab, then click the advanced button at the bottom...there should be a pretty tab saying nVIDIA GeForce 6800 (this is AFTER you install drivers) and all the temp and other stuff can be found there.

You're welcome ;)

thats where i went! but i kept lookin for 6800 but it never said that. so i kept searching for it! thanks! can anyone else be nice enuff to answer my other questions. once again thanks and im sorry im not as well informed!

There are many threads here covering everything you are asking ... but here it goes:

Newest official drivers -> 66.93

Latest beta drivers -> 67.03

Temperature of video card is in the graphics properties, you may need to load one of the above drivers if you are using the manufacturer's.

Don't worry about the PSU unless you notice stability issues while gaming. If you want then just use one of the many programs out there to monitor the rails and watch how they fluctuate while running 3DMark03/05 or something.

Link to softmod your 6800 (unlock pipelines, etc.) -> CLICK

AGP slot running the correct RAM? I guess you mean aperature setting? Look in your BIOS.

The link doesnt say video card specefic... It has basically one Driver for all geforce cards. You want the latest Forceware Driver. Download Riva Tuner 15.2 so you can overclock and enable your disabled pipes/shader. What card did you get?

thanks u guys. ur very helpful. where do i find the bios and how will i locate it in the bios? like the thread states :) 6800 nu. well im not entirely sure but the link u gave me with the guide is kinda wrong maybe? i basicly made sure all my settings copied the pictures he showed till i got up to thecustom graphics processor customization. then i ran into a problem. in the picture it shows, they have bit01 disabled with a yes also. mine is enabled w/o a yes or no on it. i don't seem to be able to change that either. my bit03 is also disabled with a yes on it. even tho the picture he has doesn't have it disabled? can anyone explain this?

under load my temp for my 6800 nu 58'c. and the ambient is 37'c. is this normal? is this good? btw i have onboard gf mx440. do i have to disable it?

update: after searching around and doing stuff on my own. i enabled the pipes and vertex shader. im very happy! ok, i was lookin to oc to see how far i can get but its all greyed out. how do i go about ocing? wut are the usual specs ppl get btw?

I meant what card did you get as in who made it. eVGA, BFG, PNY..ect ?

altho i am not pleased with the company i have. i bought my card at the BF CUSA sale. its a pny. it works fine but this was the one i got in return for my bad one. anyone can answer my questions above. it would be very helpful thanks!

im a big noob. how do u get benches? how do i oc? im tryin to figure out atm how to oc to see how high i can go but to no avail. :(

Hi Shade,

I have a PNY 6800 also (CompUSA deal). I did unlock all Pixel/Vertex shaders without any display problems. To unlock Shaders on RivaTuner, go to Main Tab and go to the Target Adapter. Click the Customize button. Then, click on The Low Level Settings. Enable the NV Strap Driver and unlock those shaders. Run some 3D Mark test to see if you get any glithes. For GPU core/memory overclock, on the Main tab, use the Driver Settings Customize button. Then select System Settings. This will allow you to overclock the core/memory settings. I put mine at 400 core, 770 memory. It is stable without glitches. I may can go higher, but I think I will stay here for a while. 3DMark results are below (core/memory):

325/700(all vertex/pixel shaders enabled - all following results the pipes are unlocked also)
3dMark05 3588
3dMark03 9877

400/700
3dMark05 4017
3dMark03 10856

400/760
3dMark05 4120
3dMark03 11175

400/770
3dMark05 4151
3dMark03 11206

I did not get any video glitches with any of these settings!

Not bad for under $220.00.
