I just got a X850XT (520/540 Default) with stock cooling, I have it overclocked to PE clocks which is 540/560 and its running without artifacts and when I run ATI Tool artifact scanner, it can run for over 40 minutes with no issues but what worries me is the temp. At idle its at like 37 celsius, but at full load it can hit like 75 celsius. Is this normal? Thanks for the reply.

yeh m8 thats fine dw...but the speed of a pe is 540/590...maybe it wsa just a typo?...and if u want u can increse the fan speed with ati tool ...which will reduce ur temps a lot... :)
dw about ur temps n get gaming :)

What is recommended setting for fan control for the stock cooler? I am wanting to fool around with fan control but don't know what setting to use, please let me know a recommended setting, thanks!

Right now the fan control setting is on....(above 0 celsius- 14%, above 70 celsius- 36%, above 75 celsius- 50%.

Is this good, or is there a better configuration? I don't want to burn out my fan....:-/

So far I am really impressed with the performance, I had a BFG 6800Ultra OC with waterblock and it was clocked stock at 470 and 1.2, and this card right now I have clocked at 540/560 and it outperforms the Ultra by a noticeable difference.

Anyone out there able to help me with the Fan Control issue in Ati Tool?

Depends If you want it cooler or to overclock

So do you want lower temps maybe better O/c But louder

or higher temps Less o/c but quiet

I have a good oc right now and im happy with it. So I just want to drop the temp a bit but don't want to run the fan too hard because I don't want the fan to die on me early.

Im not sure how it works exactly just up the fan speed % by about 5-10% on all of them and see how your temps are and what the noise is like (i hate my GT cooler!)

ull love the pe...it outperforms all the cards :) apart from sli which is double the price tho...

ok to control fan speeds on ati tool u do this:
have ati tool open
go to settings at the bottom right of the window of ati tool
at the top there should be a little drop down...go to fan control
click on override fan speeds...then u can play about :)
this is on the new version 0.24 beta 7

I know how to get inside the fan control and right now my settings are
above 0 celsius-----14%
above 70 celsius----36%
above 75 celsius----50%

Are these good settings? My main concern is not to burn out the fan quickly. I need this card to last and right now its clocked at 540/590 PE clocks since they use the same exact cooling I dont see why I shouldnt hit those clocks, and it has been stable in artifact scanner with Ati Tool.

So what do you think of my fan settings?
above 0 celsius-----14%
above 70 celsius----36%
above 75 celsius----50%
