Ok, so one of my really dumb friends decides to see how low my sub can go with like the biggest base song i have and well it doesn't work so great anymore....... Anyway, i'm not to mad cuz it was just a set of crappy creative labs 2.1. Now whenever i turn the sub woofer on i get some major feedback and a really high pitched whine.

but anyway, i'm in the search for a new descent set of 2.1 speakers. I'm really tight on cash right now, but i want speakers that i can actually use the sub. Any suggestions for a cheap set of 2.1 speakers that don't sound too bad...?
 
Feedback? Sure you don't have a mic plugged in? Or your sound card is setup to use Wave recording...
 
Well how much money are you willing to spend? I got some Z640's of amazon.com for 40 or so bucks. They were refurbished of course, but im not a picky person and as long they work, im happy, used or new. They are 70 new though. If not, just get something by Altec Lansing or Logitech, they are bound to be good speakers.
 
omg, i feel so retarded right now..... I have never had that happen before but i guess that makes sense. So i guess with my headset, when i have my mic turned on is when i get the really high pitched whine.... wow, i'm dumb, oh also i had some wierd setting turned on in my sound driver that may of halped to it to.... When i updated the firmware to my soundcard, like everything got completely screwed, but for sum reason this buzzing didn't start till after my friend did that.......
 
so is there any way that i can turn my sub on while i have my mic plugged in???? Like for example, i use my mic all the time while i'm playing games, but if i have my mic turned on and i get the feedback from my subwoofer.....
 
Try either moving the sub/speakers farther away from your mic, or turn the gain (volume) down for the mic in the audio control panel.

On budget and actually want to use the sub. Normally I'd recommend the Klipsch 2.1 promedias but the sub bottoms out before you raise the volume halfway. Instead a better option may be the logitech z-2200 or z-2300.
 
I have the Altec Lansing VS4121's. They sound great and you can get them for 55 refurbed.

oops.... Your right, I do mean drivers. Like right before i made that last post, i updated the firmware for my router and it was driving me insane cuz i needed to reforward all my ports......

Altec MX5021's 2.1, one of the best 2.1's on the market in MM. Also Bestbuy still has the Promedia's 2.1 which rock. If you listen to music more I would say the Altecs, but if you game/watch movies more I would say the PM 2.1's. BTW I own the Altecs and I love them :)
 
Whats a good sub for another buy whos on a relative budget? Whats the usual price for these things?

How much are you willing to spend? The Dayton Loudspeaker 10" 100w subwoofer can be had for about $140. There are some cheaper Yamaha brand subwoofers that do a decent job as well.
