I'm making a new case and i'm about to install the MB and i see the spacer screws are now Silver and not Brass. When did this happen. Granted i've had literraly over a hundred or so of the old brass ones and i've just run out. I see these silver ones and for a second wondered if they were safe to use. I assume they are just curious if anyone knows when or why they changed them.
 
I can't imagine any reason why you wouldn't be able to use them. It's just a different finish. Contrary to popular belief, standoffs aren't required for grounding (and it's not bad if they do). As long as the thread spacing and size are the same, you're good to go. I think it's as much an aesthetic thing as anything else.
