I had been running dnetc for the /. team. I've been doing over 90% of their work, taking over first place on the team (by quite a margin) and keeping the team in the mid-40's overall. I also managed to hit 400th place overall for RC5-72.

I've now switched to Team [H]. Hopefully you'll see me and my little PC near the top of the [H] scoreboard soon, and the team higher up on the scoreboard as well.

If you don't mind, what is that projectand what does it do? I'm not up on all the stuff H is involved In (alot!!) and I love hearing about all theother projects besides F@H we help out

Welcome! We have quite a few members running that project. Razor and Jathanis run RC5 quite a bit when their GPUs aren't busy elsewhere and I know there are several people running OGR pretty regularly too.

http://www.distributed.net/mission.php has their mission statement. It originally started out with the RSA Secret-Key Challenge. It was set up to prove that the standard level on encryption was not sufficient. Distributed computing was used to show that with a collection of regular PCs, the encryption could be brute-forced. Now it's become more just a number-crunching game, as it sort of proved its point and shows how the encryption strength and PC power scale. They also have an OGR client, which has some practical uses.

I got started with dnetc way back before F@H was even around. When F@H came out, it seemed like a better cause, but the client sucked immensely compared to dnetc. I may still switch to Folding one of these days, but the dnetc client is so easy. The biggest problem I have is that the GPU client is still technically beta, so it expires after a certain number of days, and occasionally doesn't get updated with a new release in time.

I had stopped doing RC5 and switched to OGR a while back when RC5 sort of lost its purpose. OGR seemed like a more helpful use for my idle cycles. However, the CUDA and Stream clients only support RC5, so I've switched back for now.

I'm running just my own single PC. i7 920 (currently at the stock speed) with a GTX285 (stock) and 9800GT (slightly overclocked in the BIOS). I'm running the CPU client as a service, configured to pause when I run games or other CPU-intensive apps (I add the app's name to the config whenever I start playing a new game a lot). I've got the GPU client set up to run on logon, but it's not always great about pausing itself, so I occasionally manually pause it then forget to restart it. I should be putting out a pretty consistent ~8,000 blocks per day, other than when I game a lot or forget to restart the GPU client.

At least now the extra heat from running 24/7 is helping the furnace to run less, rather than making the AC run more. =)
