Issues with GTX 260 SLI

So I had one GTX 260 216 core and recently acquired another (exact same model) to go SLI.

Installed the card and the bridge, updated to the newest drivers, and enabled the 3d surround option (no sli option is available) in the nvidia control panel.

Everything works, computer recognizes both cards, I have dual screens, and am able to use the computer and play games.

But when i shutdown or restart the computer, it reboots with standard graphics drivers in a low resolution, dual screen doesn't work, and in device manager, it reports the cards as having a driver error.

When i take out one card, and leave the other one in, everything is fine. Both cards are working BTW...

So to get SLI back, i uninstall the drivers, install the 2nd card, then reinstall the drivers. Everything go back to working in SLI mode, until I reboot or shutdown.

So right now I have the same driver installed, but have not enabled the 3d or sli settings, and i am able to shutdown and restart the computer without issues. So the problem must be something with the 3d option.

My only goal really was to run 3 monitors, which i can do with the 2nd video card, but having 3 screen gaming would be a nice feature...

Any suggestions?

I want to say 3 screen gaming only works on GTX4XX series cards.? But I have no docs to confirm that.

260's were out before 3D surround, I think your right 4XX and up are capable.

Are all three monitors using DVI? It states that as a requirement on the site. Are you also plugged into the correct DVI ports? There is a guide when you scroll down a bit.

It also states to update the motherboard "SBIOS" ... Is that a typo or a fancy name for bios.?

"Please make sure you have updated your motherboard SBIOS to be the latest one."

It also says "All displays must have a common resolution, refresh rate, and sync polarity"

The fact that it doesn't remember your video card drivers seems like it more likely may be the culprit.

all monitors are identical, connected with dvi cables, and in the connect ports.

i will look into the bios issue. thanks!

also try older driver versions that have the surround support. the newer drivers have had a ton of issues with the 200 series cards in surround. so play around with the video drivers as well. if i remember right a lot of people have found the 266.89 drivers(i believe thats the correct version) to be the better running drivers for surround.
