is upgrading worth it

ECS crap Mobo
2x1gb 667 ddr2
intel pentium d 930
8800 gts 320


Over christmas i am thinking about upgrading my Mobo/CPU, and perhaps ram I'm a little tight on the $$ so, pretty much i've got 2 build options, my main question is would i see performance gain in games like crysis from either of these builds? And i do plan on overclocking with a zalman 9700.

1. IP35 board (prolly abit ip35-e)= about $90
Q6600-$270
Keep my 667 ram
or
2.Abit board again-$90
E6750- $190
2x2gb 800 ram-$90

I want to overclock either one of these options. So which would be best? or is the performance gain not worth the money?

if decent performance in crysis is important, then an upgrade is probably warranted

if an upgrade is warranted, then option 1

if option 1, then win

If you aren't really having to many problems with what your running now, I would at least hold out for the Penryn chips to hit in Q1 2008 and get a decent cheap DD2 motherboard that will push a Penryn.

The Q6600 is still a good quad and the E6750 is damn nice also(love mine and OCs VERY well) but like I said...might as well wait a month to get the better end. Knowing technology upgrades every month it seems.

well, like i've said, money is sorta tight, 350ish is about as much as i can afford, will the penryn's still fall into that catagory? and i'm sorta noobish to overclocking, but will having 667 ram have an effect on overclocking efficiency or something? haha
