I overclocked my 3200 winchester to 2.4 and upped the voltage of the chip to 1.5v... the CPU idle temperature only went up 2C.... and the idle temp for my 7800GT went up 5C...

why would my video card get 5C warmer?

The extra heat is being dissipated into your case, obviously that means higher all around temps. I'd check the temp difference on your Mobo too.

i'm guessing your HSF for your CPU pushes into the mobo as well no?

because your cpu thermal sensor is lying and is more than 5c warmer.. and as others said, is dumping the extra heat into the case to warm up the gpu. double check to make sure ambient is constant
