I want to overclock my system. Not to much, but a little more to show off I guess?
Anyway.

System Specs:

AMD 2600+ with retail HSF
Aopen AK77D-400VN Board
2x256MB GeiL PC3200 (Dual Channeled)
1x512MB Kingston HyperX PC3500

Right now the Processor is @ 2.087GHz
I want to just bring it up to 2.1GHz

Only problem is, From what Motherboard Monitor is telling me, I'm running at 43C. Well, I'm not even sure if that's the right sensor, but I picked the hottest running one out of all of them :-P

Edit: I have 'Sensor 1' set to: 'Max1617-9 (local)' and it's reading in at 40C. I'm hoping that's the CPU. It has a list of diff things I can set the sensors to, but I have no idea which one is the CPU!

Anyway, Is it safe to OC that little distance with that high of temps?
 
Should be OK. The temp you state is probably the CPU, as the mobo sensor does not run that hot. Just that little bit won't increase the temps too much.
 
ok I have an update.
I upped the FSB by 2. Giving me 2.127GHz
And I also turned my CPU fan to 100%

And it has actually cooled my CPU down more now then it did before I overclocked.
It's idling at 40C
So my question is. Is it safe to go higher? Can I get to 2.2 without a problem?
 
Overclock and find out yourself. Check the temps after each one and if its higher than you'd like then back it down.
 
If it's stable, it's not too hot (well, unless it goes into the 65 C range, that's a little too toasty for me).

I idle at 43, load at 54 - 56 now.
