HI, I have EVGA GF 6800 nu and at idle its GPU CORE Temp sits at 61C and when i m playing something like DOOM3 , FARCRY or Home World 2 it rise to like 72C (not much difference between idle and usage) .I haven't OC this card. Is this a Normal Temp while idle ???

I don't own a NU, but the 60C when idle is a little warm, but nothing to worry about I think. Mine idles at around 56C then gets up to around 78C when full load.

Will that make a big difference. I got some AS3 kicking around and I'm wondering if its worth putting on my X800.

You have different Brand that EVGA ? and u think that diff is bcuz of room temp .
I have my system covered from all 4 sides to protect it from dust.

your idle seems kind of high but your load is actually pretty low for stock cooling. what are your room temperatures?

Whats the internal temperature of the house??

I sit somewhere around 76F...

I think you're fine... dont sweat it, and I'm running a BFG Geforce 6800 GT OC.

I'd like to slap some AS5 on my card... but don't want to mess with BFG's lifetime warranty. (Although don't think they'd like to give me a warranty when having my card clocked to 395/1180 either)

I got a 6800 card from leadtek yesterday. It's the one with the big copper heatsink. Idle temp is 56-57C now with the AC on, but before when I had 2 comps running with no AC it would stay around 61C. I wouldn't mess with the thermal paste unless you were going to OC the card. Not worth it to void the warranty imo :)

Seems a little high. What is your system temperature?.My Leadtek 6800nu runs in the low 50's idle, low 60's overclocked to 390/820 under load (Doom 3 for 2 hours).

Well the only fans for the comp are the two on the powersupply, and the heatsink, so I don't get much airflow. CPU temps are low 50's idle with stock heatsink (XP 3000+). I'm not worried though. It will be obsolete before it dies from overheating

My system stays at this at normal usage

Those temps look fine, for system and cpu. Gpu looks high though for a card that's not overclocked. I think the GT version runs close to this temp but not the nu. Mine isn't getting anywhere near 70 degrees, overclocked and under load. I too have just the standard P4 heatsink / fan and standard psu. I've read on here that some ppl have tightened the screws on the back of their graphics cards and it has helped reduce temperature. If that doesn't work, try adding some Arctic Silver thermal paste to the memory and core on your gfx card. This should help reduce temps by 15-20 degrees.
