I'm putting together this new pc with an amd 2600, corsair xms 2700 256mb, and an abit nf7-s... the problem is that when it starts up it takes a while to detect the ide devices... then after that everything works fine... any ideas?
 
no - it's not normal... you could either try messing with jumper settings or turn off autodetection in BIOS and see how it would work...
 
No matter what i do the boot is still sooo slow... it takes forever to find the hard drive and cd-rom and then it takes forever for the OS to come up.
 
what condition are the drives. if one is starting to fail it could cause detection lag maybe, and poor performance. get some testing software
