Is this ghosting?

thought I knew what they both were, but I'm not so sure anymore. I read this thread here
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=775081&highlight=motion+blur
but I'm still not sure if I get it. The symptom I'm seeing occurs when playing CoD. I'm in a long hallway with a large steel drum in front of me. If I strafe left or right, I see an after image of the drum on the side, almost like a tail. For ex. I strafe left, there will be an after image on the right side. I should also add that I also see this afterimage if I move with the mouse to the left or right. Is that ghosting or motion blur? How about If I drag a window on my desktop, and also see an afterimage. What is it? Will getting a faster lcd stop this from happening? I currently have a 20ms PVA panel. tks

if it looks like a trail behind the image like when u turn on mouse trail for your mouse, it is ghosting. If its just images moving too fast, and u cannot see it clearly but images leave no trail, it is motion blurr.

I guess "trail" is the keyword here. Yes, there is a trail. I guess that's ghosting. So if I understand correctly, motion blur is when an object is moving and becomes blurry, but does not leave a trail. Got it. Thanks
