ok, i've already ordered a new psu, but i figured i would check what mine is doing anyway.

heres what i got with the mulitmeter,

bios screen:
3.49
5.06
12.45

windows idle:
3.52
5.06
12.48

load(sims 2 sitting during gameplay)
3.68
5.05
12.48

the problem i have is that every once in a while, mostly while playing games, the computer will just power off. i'm assuming its cause the 3.3 rail is overloading the system???

anyways, i've got a new psu coming so i'm happy:)

thats what i got with the dmm, my bios and software tell me everythign is running lower than normal
 Sorry, I didn't see that part.

Yes the +3.3V is out of spec & the +12V is close, replace PSU.

System specs please. What PSU is coming?

Motherboard: Epox 8rda+
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Memory: 2x512mb elixir DDR-333mhz pc2700
Videocard: ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb DDR
Harddrive: Maxtor 80GB 7200rpm ata/133
Western Digital 30GB 7200rpm ata/100
CDROM: Pioneer DVD-ROM 16x
TDK 840G 8x DVD-R/RW

enermax whisper 350watt psu is running it and dying in it now.

i've got an antec true power 2.0 430watt coming

Hmm... The Epox 8RDA+ has 5V regulation for the CPU.

What's funny is that your older Enermax actually dates back to when that was the norm!

Clearly the PSU is failing. Just use your head looking for a replacement. ;)

You will have problems, get the standard TruePower & all is well. ;)

OK so the issue is ATX12v2.0 PSU's like the TP2.0 have serious problems when the 5v load is higher than the 12v. This problem causes the 12v to go out of spec. It is not a good situation.

Oh hey! It's this guy again. One thread wasn't enough. :D

this time i made sure to check my psu to see exactly what the problem is.

again though, could that high 3.3v be the reason why it shuts down? since agp is on the 3.3 rail, and it powers off while playing games, i'm just assuming. and again, the truepower 2.0 should tide me over until i upgrade in a couple months

EVERYONE IS TELLING YOU NOT TO GET A TP II FOR THAT OLD SYSTEM, AS IT CAN"T WORK PROPERLY!

ok, what exactly will happen if i run that TP2 with the system i have right now? what problems will it cause?

no problems what so ever and i've been more stable than i was with the old psu for sure
