Is prime95 wrong?

Let me start by saying that this is my first time OCing, while it's frustrating it's also fun messing around with everything.

I only have my FSB/HTT at 205, and I get errors in prime95 within the first minute. I've pretty much determined that it's a RAM problem, as I have had a *few* problems with it in the past, but I've tried everything to stop from getting this error (raisng vDIMM, loosened timings.) But it seems that no matter what I do, I always get errors on the first test of prime95 (using the Blend option). And it's always because "Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4." However, it doesn't seem to mind running HL2 as smooth as butter on demend. :p

Is my RAM just that bad or is prime95 giving me bogus errors?
 
What's your ram speed and ram divider? Post screenshots of CPU-Z in both the main info window as well as another for the memory window. Might be that it's "desktop" stable but not prime stable due to ram or other (vcore, etc) issues.

So it may not be "bad ram" just bad settings not playing nice with the ram. Read my 3000+ venice overclock thread (very long, step by step as I learned) for an idea ... you'll just need a half hour or so to go through it :)

also try updating to Prime95 v24.11 which apparently has A64 fixes.

edit - also use in-place ftt for cpu and ram tests as it'll error faster helping you to tune your overclock to stable quicker.
 
My RAM is at 1:1 (205mhz), Vcore is at 1.5v, still got the "got .5, wanted .4" error on the prime95 version that you linked me to.

As a note, I get the "got .5, wanted .4" error on all of the prime95 test other than the Small FFTs.

Second note, my Vcore is at 1.5v, CPU-Z reports it wrong.

Third note, I am still using the stock AMD fan and TIM. (sadface)
 
download and run memtest86, could be that theres a dodgy transistor somewhere in one of your ram chips,
 
Try running Memtest86. Choose test #5 and let it run at least 3 times. If it passes, then run the entire test pass. If that passes too, your memory is fine and the culprit is elsewhere.
 
Nevermind guys, I've decided that I'm not going to OC until I can get a better PSU (pos Aspire 500w), better cooling, and possibly even different RAM (I've been considering this for awhile, and giving these sticks to my dad for his new rig.)
