well i just put together my new comp i installed everything so i powerd it up koo and illl heard was beep beep beep beep bepp.........and im like what the hell and it wont show any pictures in the monitor so im like ok....since i have a bfg 6800gt oc pci with a8nsli as my mobo the video card turn red so i said ok i reinstalled it and it there no red so im like maybe its the hard drive wouldnt it be loud when i first turn on the comp

i dont understand the whole red thing...

but i dont think it's your hard drive, cause your system will tell you if the harddrive is unbootable.

maybe it's the memory? or the video card itself.
 
i dont think you can tell the video card is running when nothing shows up. if you mean that the fan powers on, that just means that it has power - and not much more than that. Then again, I don't have that video card so I don't know about its internal diagnostic system.
 
Please slow down for a second, and post the complete specs of your system, most importantly what brand of PSU you have and how much current it can deliver on +12.

Reset your BIOS to setup defaults.
Run MemTest86.
Run manufacturer diagnostics on the drive.

Post back the results.
 
Multiple uniform beeps with spacing in between them means one of two things. Memory, or video. Check your RAM, use one stick at first, make sure its fully seated, try different slots, get the one stick working then add the second. Make sure video card is fully seated as well.

Rest assured, it is -not- your hard drive.
 
don't forget, if you're pulling components, turn off the power supply (don't unplug it though). i found out the hard way that sometimes yanking ram or reinserting it will start up a pc when you're not ready yet. nothing broke, but i just wanted to let you know.

the reason for not unplugging the power is so the whole system is still grounded
 
i have a 480 watt antec tru-blu. and it still makes that beep...beep....beep....sound lol ok hmmm ill try it again
 
ok i switch the rams to the 3rd and 4th slot and it works shoooo thank you guys but my problem now is that its detecting my ram as 2048 so im like what the :eek: lol is that common should i upgrade the bios? too bad i dont have winxp to create a start up disk :(
