Is it possible to screencap a DVD in JPG format?

I'm trying to capture a screen in a DVD from a taped PBS program... and I can't get it to work in jpeg format. TIF, BMP, AND PNG work fine... but anytime i try to save as jpg or output to jpg I get an all black screen... anyone have any suggestions?

Save as a BMP and then use Irfanview to convert to jpeg...

what about converting from one of those formats to your desired one? ... would take more time if you were taking several shots, but, just a thought...

um... i had the 2 screen shots i needed... opened them in infraview.... it was all black and now the copy i had saved is all black too... I never even converted anything just opened the file... strange.
