Is there a way to use a ups for three machines and if the power goes out have the ups shut down all three machines, I have 3 servers that run 24/7 and I wanted to use one nice ups (belkin or apc 1500va) to make sure they are al safe. only thing is I want to have if the power does shut off the ups will shut down all 3 pc's. I am not really worried about how minutes they stay up I just wanted it to shut down immediatly. Is it possiable? Thanks for any help.

Depends entirely on the power management software. Some software supports 'client' functionality, where you have a primary system directly connected, which can inform the clients when the UPS goes down. By and large though, you'll be forced into purchasing a very expensive SNMP card and networking it.

I am currently looking for the same thing, I think APC has the answer, provided that you don't mind connecting via the RS-232 port (Serial Port i think). It is called the Smartslot, and it allows you to add additional outpout ports. It allows you to add everything from an SNMP card etc. the cards seem to run about $20-30 shipped on e-bay, you just have to find which APC units support the smartslot cards.

Edit: If you see me bidding for something on e-bay don't out bid me ;)
