Blue screen of Death is seen about once a day. Most likely a driver problem. Error got IRQL_NOT_GREATER_OR_EQUAL......

This started happening since I started using the latest catalyst. Happens with:

Catalyst 4.12b (HL2 drivers)
Omega 2.5.9.7 (Based on above catalyst)
and I have read forums that people (including me) even had this error on the Catalyst 4.11. Nothing is put into the system event viewer, so cannot give an exact report. Fastwrites are off. Secondry display adaptor is disabled. Error happened with/without CCC. Card is not OCed. Error never happened before. AGP 8x is operational. No heat problems. VPU recover was disabled.

XP SP2
2GB RAM

No idea what the problem.

sounds like you need to roll back to a different driver set.
 
IRQ_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL is in 99% of hte cases, your ram. run memtest 86 and see if you get any errors

I get the same error.. and i have a Nvidia 6800GT OC

I get it if i come back from the screen saver, log back in, POOF! blue screen of death. Not everytime.. just when it wants to annoy me!
 
ok this is an update. The error was

Stop 0x000000D1

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

The Stop 0xD1 message indicates that the system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. Drivers that have used improper addresses typically cause this error.
 
I get the same type of error message whenever my OC on my FSB is too high. So, if your CPU's are overclocked (whether or not the GPU is overclocked), try reducing it.

That has been the case for me at least. I resolved all of my IRQL errors by reducing my OC to a more conservative level.
 
I just fixed this problem for myself, and it happened to be the RAM that was doing it all the while. I memtested as well, and my RAM tested OK as well, but as soon as i switched the RAM out no more blue screens of death.:)
 
yeah, make sure you guys are doing the full test and not just tests 1-7. go to the options and select extended testing. it takes forever, but it might find your problem

I was getting this on some Kingston or Corsair (Can't remember now) Value Select memory, on a Asus P4C800-Deluxe. I checked out the Kingston forums and apparently not all the Value Select Part numbers were validated for use on Intel chipsets. So it was a compatibility issue in that case.

Memtest of course showed the memory to be in perfect working order.
 
I get the same BSOD mostly when gaming. And my computer is ancient compared to you guys.

thats not it.
there are various stop errors.

I ran all 8 tests with memtest. All ok. My RAM never had this error with older drivers. Its Crucial ballistix ~<2 months old. THey dont get messed up over time.

Besides M$ website says its a driver error.
the other error IRQL_... might be the memory error.
DRIVER_IRQL_....is diff from it.

I get an "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error on my system as well. Using a 6800 NU with the latest official drivers on nvidia's site. I've ran memtest86 and prime95 with no errors in either.

Seems UT2004 triggers it most of the time for me. No problems yet with HL2, and I've played a good bit of Q3:A without a hitch as well. I did get another bluescreen in VtM:Bloodlines but it had a different error message.

Here's each message:

UT2004: "*** STOP: 0x0000000A (0x9 D086240, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8051EC1C)"
Bloodlines: "nv4_disp.dll - Adress BFA110D3 base at BF9D3000, Date Stamp 00000000"

I would assume they're somehow related, but my thread has reached 3 pages and I still don't know what to do :(. If I was sure it was the RAM I'd RMA it in a heartbeat, but with no errors in either test I'm at a loss as to what action I should take next.
 
Yeah, I would RMA the RAM too if I knew that it was having faults. But as I said before, this error started happening recently after cat 4.11 for ATI. I remeber they fixed some memory 256MB bug in the new catalysts.

On the other hand you dont use catalyst as you are Nvidia. Now that makes me think that is this a coincidence with latest drivers, or something else thats messed up and then that leaves the RAM.

For me the driver error is very random. Like it never happened anytime from thurs-sat while the computer was ON all the time folding. But today, that is since 12am, it happened twice. Also this error never happended while playing gams, it happened when just simple internet browsing.
