Monies! I've got em! I miss my Fujitsu MAU more than I'd care to admit. I'm thinking of buying a new OS drive (Anything would be better than my 5400RPM IDE drive!) and was looking at the iRAM and the Fujitsu MAX SAS drives. Capacity isn't an issue, as long as it will fit Maya, Photoshop, and Windows (Which should fit with 4x1GB modules). I'd also be upgrading from 1GB to 3GB of system memory, and a dual core processor (Thinkin' a 165 OC'd to 2.6 or so).
Anywho, question phrased thusly: price nonwithstanding, is the iRAM faster at loading applications and doing stuff in said applications than the MAX? If so, by what margin? Also, can anyone recommend a SAS card, in case I go that route? (Preferably under $300) Given 3-4GB of system memory, would the storage device even be a limitation in Maya/Photoshop? Would the money be better spent upgrading other components?
(Oh yeah... And I graduated from college friday. So... Excuse the post if it doesn't make much sense. *hic*)
