Given that I can't find a decent IPS monitor that isn't plagued by high gamut, is TN with HiFRC really so bad (direct viewing)?

The NEC looks quite decent, a bit worried about the reponse time tho. I see there is a thread on it, time for some more reading.

Edit:
From the other thread
14ms is black to white response time, where Dells 5ms is grey to grey. Dunno why NEC doesnt state the GtG response time, should sell much better. I assume that if EA231WMi doesnt have any overdrive, its GtG response time is about 8ms, which isn't too shabby.

Thanks for pointing out the NEC. Dunno how I missed it. The new HP's aren't going to be in the UK anytime soon so I think the NEC is the winner. Unless anyone can offer up something better?

Emmm depeneds from person to person. Direct view on modern TN's isn't that distractingly bad coming from a IPS. If I use a decent colorimeter, like an X-Rite, I don't have any problem moving from my 2490wuxi to a TN for casual use. Though an X-Rite - TN combo will cost you about the same as a new E-IPS nowadays.....
