One of my friends is going to Thailand for 3 months. A company is actually paying for all shipping and of course airfare, living expenses, etc. He is going to ship his computer over there. He said he has a standard ATX power supply and asked if I knew if he can just plug his normal power cable into their power grid and into the power supply and expect the computer to work properly. Anyone have any idea, and if it isnt that simple, what he would need?

There are two things here, one the actual plug and two the rated voltage. Thailand's voltage is rated at 220-240 so if your friend has any stuff rated only for 110-120 then he will need a step down transformer.

2 is the actual plug, in all likelihood the plug will be different so ask him to get a universal power adapter which is just a plug interchange.

Most power supplies are rated between 110-240 so the PC should be fine, but ask him to check before plugging it in anyway.
