Internal rads pulling air from inside?

Yes, I know that isn't the ideal setup. However, I notice a few rigs in the sticky thread using a setup like this. Without modifying my case (Antec P182) TOO severely or going external for the rad, this seems like the setup for me.

My question is, how much heat dissipation would I really lose by mounting, say, a PA120.2 in the top of my case with the fans drawing air from within the case and blowing out? I plan to cool my QX9650 with mild overclock and GTX 260 with mild overclock with this setup.

I could, theoretically, add a single rad to the front of the case pulling in, but that'd just add hot air inside the case which is then washing over the other rad up top. Bad idea, right?

you can have rads pulling in or out of the case just make sure you got another fan pulling air in without a rad on it so its getting some cool air from somewhere... i did that with my previous lian-li case, i had 2 80mm rads fitted into the front of a pc-65 pulling cool air in through them then just changed the exhaust fan to pull air in and one to go out in the top.. worked fine for me.
 
When I first started watercooling I tried that combo. It caused my temps to rise about 8c even with cool air being blown into the case.
 
but5 Your best bet is to revers it and blow air from outide into your case, once again so long as your not to overloaded, just feel how warm the air is coming form the rad

Do people with rads that are mounted at the top of the case mount them so the air is being drawn down and over them? I didn't really consider this option as it operates against natural heat convection. It it a viable option?

I have a Silverstone TJ09 with a Swiftech MCR320 radiator (3x120mm) mounted at the top, drawing air through the radiator and into the case. It works fine. Temps inside the case are probably a bit higher than they would be if the airflow was reversed, but are not unmanageable. My motherboard temperature in Everest peaks at 52C. The TJ09 has good ventilation, which certainly helps.
 
My top mount rad (Rocketfish FT, PA120.3) has fans pushing air through it out of the case. I don't want to work against convection... I do have a couple fans down low bringing air in.
 
If you have positive air flow and exit the heat exchanged air out, it shouldn't matter. As long as you are pulling air in over the radiator, and your case has a way for the heated air to leave (top mounted fans exhausting out) you should be fine.

Top front is IN so is the back one, two top on a rad are OUT. The reason that this works because the back fan gets the cold air from outside the case and blows it inside the case very close to the 240 Stealth i have so basicaly it 240 sucks in that air from a back + some warm air from my front top, no bigie...

Very simple, and it looks much much better than external rad IMO.
 
This is how I have mine setup. The advantage is that your not blowing hot air over the rest of the components so the interior of the case stays cooler. The loop will run a bit warmer though but I also get less dust on my stacker since it helps pull air in thorugh the filters. I reversed the exhaust fan and have a fan blowing over the hard drives. I also reverse the fan on top so it blows into the case. This provides decent airflow over the components that are not directly cooled by the water cooling loop. I like knowing theres cool air flowing over these components since there is a lack of airflow in many watercooled systems. If I reversed my fans, I would be blowing hot air at the memory on my video card and southbridge.

I think there is an advantage to doing things eithe rway, but people tend to only look at the temperatures in the loop.
 
I use to have my setup pull air from inside the case and push it out. Only heat that should have been generated inside was from the hard drives, memory, and the non-watercooled parts on the mobo.

Now I have it set to pull air from outside the case in and then it pushed that air right back out the case. The case has sections and it's been modified to have a section for the radiator.
