Interference

The guys in the room next to me are causing my monitor to have some kind of magnetic interference, probably fromt their tv or something. Whatever it is makes my monitor jitter really bad. I was wondering if there was anyway to make some kind of homemade EMI shield or something to keep it from shaking so bad.

It would be helpful to know what kind of interference you're dealing with.

Maybe there's noise on the powerline. Then, a good isolator or UPS will help.

If it's wave-based interference, then you can make a shield. But it would probably be easier to just move your monitor.

Well it's usually on and off with the jittering, I'm assuming when they turn something on or off next door. I'm using an NEC 19 inch FE990 CRT. Could it possibly have something to do with the power supply? My power supply seems to be giving me a lot of problems right now (my system will just crap when doing anything intensive and I will get some really high pitched annoying noise accompanied by a blank blue screen and then an automatic restart)... Not sure if the signal comming into the computer is crappy or just a crappy PSU, though I am banking on the PSU since it was some piece of crap from in town that I grabbed real quick since i needed one.

I'd try moving the monitor around. I had the same problem once, turned out I was too close to the Air Conditioner circuit that every time the AC turns on my monitor distorts. Moving it across the room fixed it.
