Intellimouse randomly shuts off?

I have a Microsoft 3.0 Intellimouse and it likes to randomly shut off. What i mean by that, the lights shuts off and my windows XP makes that beep noise. The mouse turns off and on repeatedly and sometimes it won't come back on until i unplug the USB and re-connect. I am running the mouse directly into the USB port and i've tried switching ports but that doesn't do any good. It gets REALLY annoying when this happens, I play cs and i have a CAL match today...i really need this :( Any ideas?
 
mine did that just before it shut off forever. try playing with the cord about where it goes into the mouse. chances are something is lose in there...
 
yeh yeh that too, u can always put in the original box, take it the store and say "i dont need it" they'll buy it.
