Intel raid0, WTF

Never set up raid0 on Intel but dug out a pair of 7200.11 drives to give it a shot for the fun of it.
I highly doubt this is how it should behave.

Even raid1 which generally has a fairly smooth curve was erratic.

Tried 12.9, 13.0 and currently using the latest 13.2.0.1016 WHQL

No difference.

Crystal was kinder, not super bad for 5+ year old drives.

Sequential Read : 194.087 MB/s
Sequential Write : 183.931 MB/s
Random Read 512KB : 75.647 MB/s
Random Write 512KB : 115.058 MB/s
 
Did you check the drives separately?
The 7200.11 series has a very bad track record.
 
They have been rock solid on their own. I had them set up in raid1 on an older computer for about a year, then went to WD and tossed them into external enclosures just for extra backup.

Both drives have the same firmware, AD14.

From various benchmarks on the web intel raid0 should not be that spastic.

I have another pair of older WD blacks I can try just to see if they behave better.
