Intel Q9450 Vs E6850

Would i see a performance increase by going from my current E6850 to a Quad Core Q9450. My goal is to attain 400Mhz FSB with the Q9450. Is that possible? I heard the 45mm chips dont like voltage. I managed to get my E6850 to 3.6Ghz with a 1.41V. I know it really depends on what you do but wouldnt vista run better on a Quad core than a dual core? I regret now not getting a Q6600.
 
Doesn't it all come down to what you plan on doing with it?

I might not be solving your problem with asking another question, but as far as I know, I think most games and many applications don't support multiple cores (over 2). Unless you're running applications like 3Dmax and such, many cores may come in handy - But for gaming and such, I think you'd be wiser to wait on going for 4 cores.

i have a 45nm dual core and it doesnt mind voltage at all. and it depends on your clock speed re 6850 vs q9450. if we are talking about games, my dual core has to run about 600mhz faster than my old q6600 to get the same performance.
