Has there ever been a good ocing matx mobo for intel cpus? I hear that there has never been a single one that ocs well like the atx counterparts even for p4s. I have an upgrade itch right now. still using my single core opteron 148 which is showing its age,

Problem is, i am using SFF and do not want to go back to big and bulky atx. I have a fear that there will never be an overclocking mobo for conroe.

This is dissapointing considering that AMD already has good overclocking mATX for am2. But AMD sucks compared to conroe atm. So i dont want to go am2.
 
There were some decent ones for older p4 but ATM none for C2D. I think it was a hard as hell to find abit board. Check up on Dillusion's thread.
 
First off, AMD doesnt 'SUCK' compared to conroe, its just a generation behind. Its stilla great platform.

Second off, there is a very nice intel OCing board called the LG-81 (go to sffclub.com for a review), but it doesnt support conroe. if you want to OC a conroe, you can either stick with a mild OC on the ASUS p5b-vm or p5ld2-vm dh 2.0, or not buy a conroe at all.
 
i am aware that the asus matx does mild ocing. But that involves going out of spec with the pci-e frequency. Doesn't that fry the vid card if you have a vid card in there?

I will want a total upgrade when dx10 cards are out and will be dissapointed if there are still zero conroe matx that support true overclocking. I would not want to pair a dx10 card with my aging amd setup.

So is there a definite plan for a manufacturer to release a good conroe matx? Or are we stuck with the crappy G965 ones that exist now?
 
Your stuck with G965, until a manufac. comes out with a 'better' g965 board.
 
I have my PCIe up to 120 and no affects that I can see.

P5LD2-VM (not DH) Rev 2.0
E6400 at 2.82 (mem V only does 1.904)
so the FSB is up from 266 to 353 on water.
I don't have any special cooling on the NB, but the CPU and GPU are both on water.

I'm quite happy with 30+% on the OC. I can even leave the Intel Speedstep stuff on and my idle drops down to 28C, load on Orthos Prime at 50C.

Don't try the 7950GX2 on it, as mine isn't working properly yet (not PCIe clock problem, doesn't work stock either).
 
That's not too bad... My DS3 holds me back to 350 if I want to boot consistently, due to the craptacular bios.
 
If there only was a mATX board for intel that OC's well and has every feature known to man. Thats a big hold back for some of us... thats why AMD is better for some. Intels just lack features in their $70 $100 boards. Why would I want to pay $150? just for a mobo when I can get one in a mATX that has all the features and the OCing capability of a DFI for half the cost.

There is no point in this contest to what is better 1st off. Performance isn't everything. 2nd its not enough to brag about it just shows you to be a immature person that only wants to show off my conroe can do this and that, finally AMD doesn't need to be hated on. Well maybe we just don't want to hear it because we already know its faster "with a price". Some people just like AMD others like Intel period and no matter what they hear or say will not change what they like. :D

Now back on topic. Id love to use my E6400 if I had a small mobo for it that had all the features and OCing I wanted that could fit in my case. But there is no Abit NF-M2 for conroe. :mad:
 
im guessing that there will be no oc mATX for conroe. I guess i have no choice but to use am2 for my next upgrade.
