I had the 3820 as well and I don't care what others say about it having some headroom to overclock on the blck it is simply not fun compared to the bclk overclocking was on the 1366 platform which you can throw any CPU on (granted it is supported by the mobo) and overclock it all you want. Traditionally as close as it gets to the bygone days of socket 775 Core 2 Duo/Quad FSB overclocking method.
Try doing all that with a cheap $80 E5-2645 Xeon on the 2011 platform to get some bang for a buck out of the processor, simply won't work. Other then that its Intel milking the cash cow with gimping down what enthusiast want to run on there system and make it go faster by overclocking without forking some hundreds to thousand of dollars for a K variant processor because it has an unlocked multi. Bclk strap overclocking was broken the day it came out on the Sandy Bridge 1155 socket range and the early X79 chip 2011 socket range.
