Lots of us want to rebuild for various reasons, but i would like to ask a favor and ask those with these brand new intel cpus to post some benchmarks...this would help myself and others trying to decide if its really time to upgrade to newer hardware. I know there's more to it than just raw cpu power as there is new instructions, native usbs 3, not to mention decreased power usage and pci 3.0 and native faster sata and more.
lots of the features can be got by adding add in usb3 cards and or faster sata ports so this really is not the goal of this thread, but rather seeing how much better(faster) the brand new intel or amd cpus do compared to what we are currently using.
So pick as many benchmarks as you like and post screenshots of the scores so people like myself can see if its really an upgrade or possible a downgrade in certain areas. Now some of you folks are sporting 1500 dollar cpus and that ok, the info is still relevant, but i think it makes more sense if the newer cpu is around the 2-300 price range as most people including myself wont justify spending that much on an upgrade.
The Intel Devil's Canyon if im not mistaken is the newest out and probably the most relevant, but what ever cpu/system your using is fine as i think a lot of people just want to know how much, if any the newer systems perform.
A range of benchmarks is probably best like cinebench, skydiver physics score, frybench or what ever programs you feel like using to make the test. Course it be best if it was free so the rest of us can download it
