Intel Declares E-Mail Free Friday

Idk, that sounds pretty cool. I get that it helps with getting ideas across, its alot more natural discussing ideas instead of composing and writing them down. Plus email tends to make things impersonal and gives the asshats balls.

Yeah let's not use e-mail for a day and use paper instead. Nice "green" idea Intel...

The point seems to be to get people who are near each other in the building to talk to each other rather than sending email. I doubt they're seriously advocating printing out memos and distributing them to their coworkers.

I think this is great. Email server a purpose in business, but a lot of lazy employees use it for interoffice communication instead of just walking down the hall. This forces them to have to actually talk to each other and coherently think about what they are saying before they shoot off an email. Very good business practice.

The article itself mentions that '150 engineers at Intel' did this... it doesn't sound like it's an official Intel thing in any way.

Ditto. It also forces coworkers to *gasp* get to learn each others' personalities. It's so very hard to read body language over email :)

I once worked for a boss who liked to email all taskings to me. She wouldn't get up and walk the 20 feet to my desk... nope, she'd just email it to me no matter how small the task. Very annoying
