i just recently switched from a xp2100 1gig ddr 3200 and asus a7n8x to a p4 2.8e 1meg cache L2 and a p4s800 same ram 3200 ddr , what i didnt switch was the hdd and cdroms
WD 80 gig 8 meg cache. I see no difference at all if any a tiny bit, im running winxp and it seems i just blew 350 bucks i see no graphical difference no speed difference system runns almost the same, is the any benching marking program or any way to see the speed difference... oh the card i have is a gforce 4 4600ti visiontek

any helpis good thanks

your graphics card would be the bottleneck in both systems on most games. upgrade to a 9800pro or better and you should see what you're looking for. Of course, if you overclocked that 2100, you probably could have saved that $350 and used it toward a 6800 or x800 card.

:EDIT: Of course, I could be totatlly wrong as I've never owned an AMD XP based system...but you could still overclock that 2.8e and have some more fun that way. Everyday usage with things like IE, Word, Excel, Etc,...won't give you any noticeable difference. Games, photo/video editing, and 3d rendering will.

damn gforce 4 4600 is out of date already...damn i spent 400 on it 6 months ago

400!!

you can get a 9800pro for about $200 or less now. Stomps the crap outta a GF4 4600. How'd you spend that much on that card 6 months ago??? I spent $145 on a 9600xt about that long ago and I can't complain (especially after the mods) with the games I play.

you got ripped dude, you could have gotten a 9800xt for that much 6 months ago. i hope you were exaggerating or joking about that...

i bought it from compusa cause im impatient and need things now lol hate waiting for shipping

dude...Newegg is your friend. Most people get their stuff within a week of ordering it. I see a LOT of people that get their stuff in 3 days. Hell, I've gotten my stuff in 2. You just have to watch Fedex. Those cockgobblers like to hold your items if they're "not due for delivery". They lock them up in some room until the last delievery day arrives then stick them on a truck to go to your house. They do this ALL THE DAMN TIME where I live...really pisses me off...can you tell???

Hell, 6 months ago, I got an Albatron GFFX 5900 w/256 and flashed it up to the 5950 U for under 300.... You definitely got ripped. And NST is right, Newegg is definitely your friend.

That cards been out of date for almost 2 years. Or more. That was the video card champion of it's generation. Which was three generations ago.

The Geforce 6800 Ultra and the Geforce 6800GT. Those are the two top cards in the Geforce line.

The Ultra is around $500 and the GT is around $400. Their availability is getting better but they are still hard to come by. Especially retail.

My video card is I think personally the most best kept secret in the gaming community. For the price, it's definately worth every penny and saves a lot of money in the long run. I wouldn't spend one more dollar on another video card until the new Geforce6 and new ATI PCI EXPRESS cards get some more customer exposure, driver updates and new models.

If you found no performance increase from a AMD 2100+ to a P4 2.8E then there's a problem somewhere. Video card would be my first guess. I'm willing to bet your AMD motherboard didn't run 8X AGP, also I'm willing to bet your Geforce 4 couldn't run 8X AGP. I bet your P4 motherboard can run 8X AGP, but switching your Geforce 4 to it didn't really make much of a difference. P4 2.8E processor however kicks some ass, is stable as hell.
