Installing Windows on an external HDD?

Here's my plan. Since I can't use the Upgrade CD with my MacBook, I figured I would take out the HDD, place it into an enclosure, and plug it into a computer which I could use the CD drive. Will it install correctly or will I have problems?

When you move that disk back to the MacBook, it will have the wrong chipset drivers (assuming you can install windows on an external drive)

Can't I then do a repair install with the upgrade CD or will it ask me again to put in another disc?
