Damn, this Pentium D 830 is running HOT. Full load is 75-79C, idle sits at 55C. My 3000+ Winchester sits at 55C full load.

I think the CPU heatsink was installed incorrectly maybe? The thing was bloody hard to install. Anyone had success in installing the thing?

Just checked CPU-z, and the thing is running overclocked? I didn't even overclock it!

215x15 = 3200mhz? Probly the OC messing with my temps too.
 
I don't have experiences with that chip, but I'll tell you that my last Intel CPU was sold after it kept reaching near 80C under full load, using the stock Intel cooler. Now my 3000+ is running at 53C full load in the same case with stock cooler. So I don't think that you installed it wrong if you're using a stock heatsink. You might want to buy an aftermarket cooler. And those Intel coolers are loud. :mad:

My Intel CPU fan seems to be less loud than my AMD one. But the Intel runs HOT.
 
I find Socket T and the installation of the heatsink to be a troublesome task. I would check to make sure it's properly installed (And thus making good contact with the thermal paste/CPU heatspreader) again, since it can be hard to tell if you're installing it on the motherboard while it's already in the case. The 8xx processors do run hotter than normal and that is part of the reason why you're running warmer - and the overclock isn't helping.

The heatsink can be a real pain in the ass to install but all I can say is check it again and push down hard to try making sure it's on properly and contact is being made.
