It would be easiest to install 98 on the C: drive...it won't install (by itself...it can be tricked) anywhere else. Then install XP to the D: drive. During the install for XP, it will notice the 98 install, and it will install a boot loader, a small program that pops up when you boot and gives you the choice of OS.
