I tried installing a 2600K into my P8Z68-V/GEN3, the old chip being a 2500K, and was dismayed to find only integrated video worked -- I tried both DVI and HDMI on the card. I tried an older video card, still nothing. They weren't in the device manager either.

Replaced my old CPU, and still no video from a card!

Does anyone have any ideas? This points me to motherboard, but I don't think I damaged anything, and the other PCI-E slots don't work either.
 
Bent CPU pin during the swap? ESD shock to the motherboard? Forget to plug in a power cable, or maybe a power cable is loose?
 
ESD? I'll check the mobo pins, good idea.. tried replugging power cables when I swapped GPUs though.
 
Turned out to be bent pins. Thanks!

Bent then back veeerrry carefully... and hey presto, it works.
