They are finally taking action against the root of all evil in India…video games. By censoring games, there will be no more rape, murder or crimes against small animals! We should do that here!

“This is true that there is a proposal that the Censor Board should start censoring all video games - and I agree with proposal totally,” says Sharmila Tagore, the chairperson of the Censor Board. “We have already submitted our proposal to the ministry and the draft is being considered by them,” she added.

I love how right above the article is a banner ad for "frontlines fuel of war" a new FPS coming out next month.

Yeah......and they eat dogs there.

They have bigger fish to fry than video games.......sheeeeeeesh.

I like how if you say the chairperson's name fast, it sounds like "Show me a lotta gore." :D

They should ban their tech support centers too... because they support these video games and support a more dynamic and open culture.

:D Now thats an idea.

They play video/computer games in India???

LOL, I know I know.. not everyone there is poor.

Considering that the government will implement the censorship, we probably don’t have much to worry about. They can’t even keep the electricity on all day there, let alone censor games.

I have a feeling that this is mostly just a lot of talk to appease Muslim and other religious conservatives.

They definitly have bigger fish to fry, India's AIDS/HIV epidemic is so bad that in some estimates, India is surpassing Africa in numbers of infected people.

First of all, no one cares. I mean, when was the last time you heard about a hit Indian video game? Or a game that was a hit in india? Weren't they the ones who were going to power their OLPC's with cows running around a generator?

Second, I doubt there are many games made that are published in india, or any of the myriad of indian language dialects... SO what is there to censor?

yeh that will get rid of the smell & squalor

poor old india has been goin down hill since video games...

DAMN YOU VIDEO GAMES!!!

"According to the proposal, the Censor board will mark the video games according to age groups and would clearly mention the age for which it is suitable. It will also be made mandatory for the manufacturer to carry the certificate on the cover of the game just as it is done on DVD covers."

"The Censor Board might also reserve the right to reject a video game if it is ‘unsuitable’ for an Indian audience."

Sounds reasonable as long as that last bit doesnt come into play often. I wouldnt mind the first part over here. That way when family buys me christmas gifts I get good stuff :D

Some odd reason, and i don't know why

When i read that article i read it in a indian type dialect :D

Welcome to Best Buy, We have banned and censored all video games for your indian viewing pleasure.

They have a LOT more problems than video games and all they can do is censor video games? Yea, that's the ticket. We can get rid of terrorist, the war against Pakistan, the poverty and all the other MAJOR problems we have by censoring video games.

This doesn't sound much different from what most of our presidential candidates are saying.

I'd feel a lot more comfortable if more of you were disturbed by this sort of thing. Freedom is dying all over the world and the U.S.A is leading the pack (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/pos...ve-become-endemic-surveillance-societies.html). Everyday we get more and more censorship and less and less freedom of speech. I didn't put my azz on the line in the Marine Corps helping others to be free to have some politician take my own freedoms away from me here at home while people make jokes about it.

AW MAN!! this ruins all my plans to move to india and live in filth and be poor and eat fried centipedes for dinner and have a girlfriend with more hair on her thighs then i have on my entire body.. oh well.. guess i'll have to live with it :(

i read it and i thought to myself "how is this any different than what they're trying to do here?"

Now everyone in America can breathe a sigh of a relief that they don't live in India.
