Increase threads per page?

Any chance that the threads per page could be made a user option or else increased to a number like 50? It appears to be only 20 right now. In an active forum like 'For Sale / Trade' it means that on a busy day like today, barely one hour of recent activity is shown per page.

Even it could be increased only in 'For Sale / Trade' that would be appreciated.

I already have that set to the max 40 and it doesn't affect the number of threads show in a forum.

That's not something you can modify.

I know that it's something that _I_ can't modify. The question (request, actually) is: Can the forum administrators modify it, at least in the 'For Sale' forum? Things scroll off the front page in a matter of minutes because only 20 threads are shown.

Thanks.

you could use fasterfox to automatically load the next page for you as you scroll down (note fasterfox is available for chrome but its automatic page loading doesn't work on [H] but works fine on google and the likes)

With a hack possibly, but otherwise it a universal pre-setting in the database, so you'll have to find a third party app to do it.

You're using vBulleting 3.8.6, from what I can see in the page source. Apparently it's not configurable on a forum-by-forum basis, but it is configurable.

Admin Control Panel->Settings->Options->Forum Display Options (forumdisplay)->Maximum Displayed Threads Before Page Split.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it is the way it is quite intentionally for obvious reasons if you just think about it a little. It's a free forum that works pretty well and most are pretty happy with it the way that it is.

If you're suggesting that limiting the number of threads displayed has an appreciable effect on system overhead, I would say that it's minimal, at best. The increased database load would be very small (there's virtually no difference between retrieving 40 items and retrieving 20) and the effect of increased page size would be very small in the context of all that is being done in the forums. If those thread list pages comprised 95% of the forum activity, it might be a different story. Also, if the difference was significant then it would make little sense in allowing the user-configurable setting for number of posts to display per page. Logically, that would also be fixed at some pre-determined number.

Not complaining, just making a suggestion that I feel would make it a little better.
