I was wondering if someone could help me increase the performance on my computer, i would like to increase it's gaming performance, specs are:

Ati radeon 9200 (saphire, atlantis) cat 3.10(128 mb)

mainboard: asus x series (p4s533-mx-uayz)

Proccesor (sadly) intel pentium 3 (2.0 gig)

256 mb ram

soundmax audio

40 gig hard drive

I've just noticed that playing games like halo are laggy, when i know they shouldn't be...

probebly the simplest, cheapest, easiest thing is get at least another 256mb of ram. especially since ur probebly using uber slow pc133 sdram.

There was a 2ghz P3  ? Anyway, yeah, ram would probably speed things up a bit. A new video card wouldn't hurt either, but the one you have is fine if you aren't willing to upgrade that.

Never Heard of a PIII over 1.4Ghz....

and that Radeon 9200 sucks....

but I would add ram... and confirm what kinda processor you have... cuz I gaurentee you, you do not own a PIII @ 2Ghz

Actually, on your system, even if that's a P4 2.0 Ghz, Halo would probably be "laggy". The cheapest thing you can do is upgrade your video drivers to the Catalyst 4.10s. It may not make a huge difference, but it's free. You also need more memory, a beter video card, and possibly (most likely) a faster processor.

Um... It's laggy on my P4 2.5Ghz with a Ti4600 *and* my AMD Barton 2500XP with a Radeon 9600XT... it's a horribly optimized computer game.

Thats true... THing is my father got me this computer it's a drastic upgrade from my old amd k6 2 with 32 mb of ram, and a 32x cdrom drive, and 3 gig hard drive... but i wish he would of jsut given me the money he used and i would of gone out and bought and built my own, he built this one, but i dunno he likes intel, BLAH! hey can ANYONE tell me how to turn off the anit aliasing with my video card? it interfears with spliuntercell, when i got night vision on and get close to lights, i've turned it down but i stil lcan't turn iit off
