Hi

Ive just installed WinXP returning from Vista and did a fresh format, but upon completion something strange has happened.

I installed Windows on my main hard disk which contains 2 partitions, 1 partition for the OS and the other partition for file storage. When I have gone to change the driver letters I noticed that the partition with windows installed is the Boot partition, whilst the other partition for file storage is the System partition.

Windows boots fine, but I find it strange that it has not set the Boot partition as the System partition as well.

Is there anyway to change this using fdisk or mbr or partition magic etc.?

Any help is appreciated.

I had the same problem with a Fujitsu Laptop I brought. Use fdisk and see which is the active partition..in my case D drive was set as the active partition and C drive had the OS installed. I tried several things to fix it but ended up reformatting both partitions and setting C drive as the active partition and it was fine the second time.
