I have my Cheap 42" Dynex tv hooked up to my pc via HDMI to DVI cable.

some games dont seem to have a problem with this arrangement. some games do
borderlands 1/2 dont seem to mind

however i did notice this in Max payne 3 and Crysis 2. They dont quite scale right. the images extend past the borders of the screen.

I have tried all the scaling settings in the nvida control panel, as well as the resizing options with no success

changed the scaling to use the display then the gpu with each of the settings aspect/full screen/ and no scale
as well as each resizing option.

the aspect ratio settings i have are normal, wide, zoom, cinema. None of those work either

Any suggestions i could try next?

This is likely an issue with the integrated image-scaler in your TV. What is the native resolution? Is it "720P"? (In quotes, because most 720p TV's are actually 1366x768), or is it full 1080P?

Try searching through your TV Menu options for "per pixel" scaling or something similar. Most decent HDTV's have an option to ensure that input doesn't get scaled, but is rather outputted per pixel, exactly as the signal is. Then it's just a matter of matching the resolution.

Though it's entirely possible this is an issue inherent with your TV. Dynex aren't exactly high-end or feature rich brands after all.

yeah im aware dynex's arent the pinnacle's of the TV market :)

the tv shows 1080p
ive used this before without a hitch. i had to adjut the resolution before. it works well with some games and not others. its not the end of the world. but 42 vs 23.. heh.

the menu options are very limited on the dynex. almost no video options other than, contrast brightness and i think a couple other color related options like cool vs warm.

but wouldnt it work if i told the gpu to scale it before it got to the tv.

Yes in theory that's ALL you'd need to do. It could be that the game is overriding the GPU scaling settings in some instances or in some games. Not too sure about that. Someone else might have more info on that. I personally only have experience with AMD GPU scaling.

Does your TV not have a 1:1 or screen fit option in its menu or on the remote? That is what you want to select when you are using the PC. Make sure it is plugged into HDMI port 1 / the port labeled PC input.

hmm ill double check, i thought i had done then. but im at work and cant confirm that.
does the dvi ports on the videocard themselves have a 1 and a 2nd port? i always just plugged them in.

i will check when i get home.
