sorry if there is already a post about this. but ive been looking for a new card. aaaaaand ive made my decision for the x800xt. but whats confusing me is there are different versions of x800xt's... on newegg i was looking. and the radeon x800xt platinum edition was 520mhz core and memory at 1120mhz. set aside that its a pci-e which i dont have.

now i scroll up a bit and i see a regular x800xt with the same clock and memory speeds but not a PE. so i instantly got confused. i kept looking around for answers and it screwed me up more. so that is my question. heres the card im talking about http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-121-515&depa=1
its alot cheaper also but i take that its agp.

another question is this. i see two pci express x800xt pe's

one is asus and one is sapphire. whats the difference? theres a huge price difference but is there a performance difference? please gime some info on this. im really confused lol. anyway im looking for a x800xt card. but whats with all the different clock speeds? id like a PE but too expensive. i see an ELSA ATI RADEON X800 XT with 520mhz core and 1120mhz memory. why is it so cheap? i know its outa stock but... yeah ill shut up. so my limit is $550. can you recomend me somethin cuz im really confused. thanks alot

sorry about all the links

I would say the biggest difference is the Asus card is retail while the Sapphire is OEM. Usually that carries a longer warranty and more bundled (if any) software. Other than that, I don't see any substantial differences.

Also, if you're looking for a sub $550 agp only card, you may want to consider one of the VIVO X800 cards. Those can often be flashed to x800 pe spec's.

There is no Diffrence bar $$ + 20MHZ more clocks for the PE :p Just get the normal X800XT it will easly clock past 520Mhz ;)

thanks for the replies. im not into flashing or overclocking. so thats why i was intrested in whats going on with the clock speeds. but anyway the last question about the ELSA ATI RADEON X800 XT. whats up with that? its cheap and not pe but pe speeds?

It could be the same deal as BFG do with there cards i>e overclock them from the factory ;) All in all a good deal and a bit of extra bang for your buck :)
