Well, I've got 2 2.8 Xeons cranking folding now, and some quite slow P3s to back them up, in addition to my A64 rig. So I'm doing my part to catch us up, but I found *this*, which is priceless.

*Look at the WU's*

I'm sure it won't last long with 5 CPUs crunching!

No. I'm L33T, my mommy told me so.

Mmm HT technology. Should do the job nicely.

Does folding record 2 processors if its a HT CPU and you're running two instances to take advantage of the hyper threading?

Yes, with HT and two instances set to different cpus Stanford records them as 2 processors.

heh, if you look around the folding benchmark(milestone) thread i've got a screencap of me in 1337th place. now i'm ~300th. i'd be higher but my borg farm died (they all got rebooted, and my brother and i hadn't gotten a chance to put F@H in the startup script, so i'm down to 8 cpus (from 40 or so) but i should be able to get them back up eventually:rolleyes: )

good job there!

Wondered what happened, I saw you in the rearview zooming up on me pretty fast, I had to try to increase my output just so I wouldn't get dusted.

So the threat is off for the time being, and I'm still trying to increase my production.

you should get your production back up to speed if you can, we gotta catch those Aussies ;)

Whoa wait, so if run *4* folding processes, that will take advantage of hyperthreading? There's enough of a mix of integer and float? Sheeeeet, I was running 2! Seriously, these Xeons crank. I might be able to push them to 3GHz actually...

yeah, that's why my cpu count has dropped thus:
Active processors
(within 50 days) 52
Active processors
(within 7 days) 8
(not really 52 - probably ~44 if i had to guess, because of the rebooting of our local netboot farm... but still)

so that's not cool. i'm getting ~100-200 pts/day, rather than the 1800-ish i was getting. :( (of course, i also had to drop my athlon box 600mhz... so that's not helping either)

get them xeons going with 4 F@H processes! we need it!

I just got 2 of the 1.6GHz LV Xeons and mine clock stably to 2.7Ghz each I get an error at 2.8ghz in Prime. The 200mhz fsb hasn't worked yet, but I'm darn happy with a 1.1Ghz overclock. :)

Yes with the 2 ht xeons you can run 4 instances set to the Cpu 1-4. Make sure in Windows that you see the 4 little graphs. I installed Windows incorrectly and I only see 2 graph. To fix this I have to press F5 on install and choose the AcPI(sp?)multiprocessor thing. I'm fixing this, this weekend, so I can improve my output fot the [H]orde. :D

After how long? Mine were stable after 8 hours of P95.

At 2.7Ghz they are stable after a whole day of prime 95, but at 2.75 after 1 hour I get an rounding error, and at 2.8ghz after a few seconds I get arounding error. I'm still tweaking this board. My CPu and VRM temps have been great, so I might have more headroom. The mod I didn't do was the Vdimm mod. I don't want to do this because I read with the increase in frequences the VRM starts to heat up and the clockgen chip heats up. I was confused if I should do the besel mod or not, so I didn't.

The computer did give me a nice increase in production. Can't really see it in my graph because I was down all yesterday. The reinstall of windows did work :) , so now I have to move everything over. :(

I'm just at 47C at full load, which is pretty good. I'm about to go get some 80mm fan adapters at CompUSA though. I didn't do the Vdimm either. I've been debating if it's worth it. My current RAM doesn' t like 2.5v though. I need some new RAM to do 800 sync.

I think the ram is also my problem. I don't have the time to learn how to do the Vdimm mod properly and to acquire the parts. I don't think the gain will be that noticeable, unless someone could prove me wrong.
