gotta be quick. my dream amd64 system costs more than my dream intel system. it'll be used for gaming, and will be overclocked. should i go with the future amd's, or should i stay with the solid intels?

Get the AMD, they definately have the edge now, If this is your "dream system", you must have some cash to throw around anyway.

i can't comment because you didn't listed the specs of both your dream systems.
If it's socket 939 from AMD ... and P4 "C" from intel i'd suggest to hold on a few days because Intel will release their new CPU socket 775...so you should go this route if it cost less

Socket 939 is so overpriced for the performance you get.
always go for the best bang for the buck hardware (price/overclokability)

ok the 64 was:
64 3200+
either the msi K8T Neo-FIS2R or another board with nf3
powercolor 9800se (hopefully softmod)
1g kingston pc3500
slk948u and as5

intel was:
2.8e
p4c800-e delux
same ram
same vid card
as5
sp94

both have antec true 430.

the intel is 956, some items not mentioned and the amd is around 1000.

get the A64 System

Intel will be dumping that socket in a bit..especially with their "BTX" bs coming out...

but, that core will become AMD's budget 64-bit core, so they'll be keeping it for a while (i.e. you can upgrade later on w/ the AMD, but prob'ly not w/ the Intel)

so, A64++.
