OK, got my brand spankin new 3000+ Mobile Barton today. Slapped it in my Biostar IDEQ 200V (went mobile as this thing sucks to cool, but the portability is a must) and boot it. It's showing me a 995 MHZ Barton :(

The problem is, my board is seeing the chip as a 6x mult, when in reality, I believe it is supposed to be 16.5 (133*16.5~2.2GHZ). My BIOS has no visible way of adjusting this.

The biostar website here tells me nothing about mults, nor does the manual here. Is there a way to hardcode the mult into this chip? Has anyone had experience with one of these f***ing boxes?

Help please!

Just about every motherboard does NOT recognize a mobile processor correctly. You have to manually set the multi. I don't know if your BIOS supports it and a quick search on Google doesn't provide the answer either.

If worst comes to worst, you can do the wire trick, but only attempt if you are very, very comfortable with the inyards of a pc. Here.

try flashing to the newest bios?

doesnt ur sig says that u have it @ 2.4ghz?!?

Yeah, my sig needs to be updated. And I was trying to avoid a BIOS flash, but that is looking like my only option. The wire trick will be my absolute last resort if I have to.

I ordered a IDEQ 200v and waited until after I got it to read the manual to order a processor. And the manual showed the bios screen where it said multiplers and fsb so I figured it would allow you to change it. However, even after flashing to the newest bios my 2200+ Mobile XP was still at 6x multipler. So I have it overclocked to nearly 204fsb and have it running at 1.25ghz instead of 1.6ghz. :(

What is this wire trick? I would be interested in doing it to get my full potentional out of this processor as I can't send it back :(
