Well like many things in the market of modding and accessories, ideas get stolen.

One of the latest coming from Antec. Remember these are the guys that tried to stop everyone from having LED fans via some bullshit patent on that idea.

Well, look here, not only have they completely gone two-face here, but they will justify it by saying "Well he didn’t patent the idea" or some shit like that. It's all the same in my world when someone’s actions speak.

The "He" in this case is Mark, the owner of FrozenCPU.com I've known Mark for years and while we haven't always gotten along (eh Mark? :p) I respect the fact that he came up with a unique product with his custom braided "detachable" leads PSU models offered on the FrozenCPU.com website. Props for a great idea and implementation, of a cool product, Mark.

Here's good ol' Antec flat out rippin ya off though. And all of you regulars here know this is the case, it's not even worth arguing because it is such a blatant rip from Mark's product. Bring your translators, the page is in Japanese, but pictures are worth a thousand words.

That's the business world for ya... this happens hundreds of millions of times daily... i don't know what to say..

Detachable power cables are nothing new to the computer industry. The "idea" has been perpetuated in hotswap power supplies for god knows how long. For someone to transfer this idea to a mainstream power supply is an overdue but unremarkable accomplishment. For someone to claim credit for the idea at this stage in the game is laughable. I thought up the idea on my own a few years back, do I get a cookie too?

I recently bought an Antec True550 modded by te FrozenCPU guys to be modular, even had them replace all the Molex connectors with black ones. Cost a hell of a lot, but it's very nice.

That's the 2nd thing you've said today that I totally agree with :D This idea is nothing new and the beef between them has been going on for a while. Either way, this has been around forever. Maybe instead of trying to sell them like crazy to being with, he should have patented the idea.

Yeah, I wouldn't say this is anything new. While I'd love to give FrozenCPU credit or something, I can't really (nice place, fun to browse the shelves). It's just a nice feature finally being implemented by the manufacturer and they're going to advertise it as something new because that's going to help sell it to the majority of consumers.

I've read about this awhile back but Antec's PSU doesn't look as good as the one on FrozenCPU. With that said I've thought about doing this before I ever saw one for sale. ;) :D
(At some point I'll mod my PSU! I swear! :D)

meh, nowhere near as darmatic as last time when that guy got all pissy about us recommending so-trick on here... hence the "come buy your ub3r l33t modding supplies" sentence in my sig...

anywho...
