IDE controller for hot swap

I need an IDE controller, that supports hot swap, the only ones i have found so far cost $100 or more, i am not doing anything special, i just have a lot of video files that i have on hard drives, so i bought some mobile racks, and put my hard drives into them, but i have to reboot my machine whaen i want to switch them around. my OS in on a sata drive, and i have 2 mobile racks withe sveral more drives, i would like like to be able to swap them without havint to reboot, i did it once, and it overwrote the new drive with the old drive's directory, and i am sitll working on recovering what was lost. if anyone here knows of an inexpensive ide drive controller that allows hot swap i would be greatfull for the info, it does not need any thing fancy, just to control 2 IDE harddrives, and be able to hot swap those drives. thanks for any help you can give. :)
 
Hotswap was not part of the standard on those drives. I think 3ware had a special controller, that had to used with special drive cages to allow for hotswap, but other than that, what you want doesn't exsist to the best of my knowledge.
 
Get a USB enclosure and put the drives in that. Then safely disconnect the USB device, pull and replace the drive, and plug it back in. That'll avoid the MFT corruption you saw before.

Other than that... get a bigger machine and put all the drives in at once :p IDE does not hotswap.
