IDE cables question

Hi all,

I was shopping for an ATA 133 40-contact cable (need a longer one), and noticed that 2 different designations exist:

IDC40X3

and simply IDCX3 (this one is more expensive)

Is there any compatibility difference or does the "40" just mean "40 pin connectors"? Neither google nor forum searches give anything meaningful. Thanks!

Both cables will work the exact same. Most all newer Ultra-ATA / IDE cables are 80 conductor with 40 pins and will work fine. As long as the cable has a blue connector on the motherboard end it is a modern cable and will meet your needs.
