IDE ATA becoming SCSI

Ok its really strange for some reason my regular IDE ATA drives are showing up on device manger as scsi drives. Thats the only place you can see the dvdr and cdr drive, you cant see them in my computer or any place like that.
 
It's nothing to worry about. Sometimes the IDE drivers for your chipset are seen as that by Windows. Again, this isn't a problem, just the way it's interpereted by Windows.
 
all IDE PCI Controller cards, and all IDE RAID cards and onboard IDE RAID chips employ SCSI drivers
and its possible that "extra" Channels onboard could be integrated that way as well depending on the chipset

the great advantage of that is HDDs larger than 137GB dont require BIOS support for 48bit LBA (though that is standard now)
 
on my old asus a7v, I had that promise ata 100 controller. It was detected even by linux as a scsi device, and I was supposed to change all these IRQ settings (where I gave up...)
